AAG - Children's Policy Advisor - Chicago

 The Policy Division is seeking candidates for the position of Children’s Policy Advisor/Assistant Attorney General. In addition to engaging in civil and criminal litigation, the Attorney General’s Office pursues several policy matters. The Policy Division focuses on Senior’s, Children’s, Consumer, Criminal and Women’s Policy Issues.  


Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Children’s Policy Advisor will plan and research issues affecting children then develop and implement state-wide policies and programs.  The Policy Advisor will also be involved in the identification, research and drafting of legislative proposals.  The Policy Advisor will also plan, develop and implement workshops, conferences or seminars on issues affecting children.  The Office works closely with other state agencies, the criminal legal system plus local community based programs.  The Policy Advisor represents the Office of the Attorney General at committees and task forces.  Travel is required. 


Qualifications: Candidates must have excellent research and writing skills. Candidates must be licensed in Illinois at the time of application to be eligible.  Candidates must have public speaking skills and experience.  Previous experience in the field of public policy, children’s issues, or child protection is required. Attendance and the ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public are essential functions of this position.   


Salary:   The salary range is $50,500 to $67,500.
