Assistant City Attorney - Champaign


The City of Champaign, Illinois, is seeking an Assistant City Attorney for its four attorney in-house staff. The position entails working closely with all City departments in a wide variety of legal areas as part of team efforts.

Experience in these areas of law is preferred: Trial experience and experience in volume case management of small claims or collection/ordinance prosecution, contract development, review and negotiation/commercial litigation; administrative agency experience; and real estate transactional work. Experience as in-house counsel is preferred.

Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. Admission to the Illinois State Bar is required. Recent comprehensive experience specializing in or with emphasis on municipal law or closely related governmental legal experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. Pre-employment drug screening is required.
