Chicago Division Chief - Criminal Appeals
The Office of the Illinois Attorney General seeks to fill the position of Chief of the Criminal Appeals Division. The Criminal Appeals Division handles a variety of cases, primarily federal habeas cases in the district court and Seventh Circuit and direct criminal appeals in the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court. The Division Chief supervises a staff of eighteen attorneys. Responsibilities of the Division Chief include reviewing briefs and preparing attorneys for oral argument.
Candidates must be licensed in the State of Illinois, and should have at least ten years experience and excellent communication and management skills. Past experience may include judicial clerkships, work on an appellate court research staff, or appellate litigation with an emphasis or background in federal habeas or state criminal appeals.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
