Attorney Positions

The City of Chicago Law Department:
Commercial and Policy Litigation Division, has an available position for an attorney with 3-5 years of experience in construction litigation to handle mechanics liens. Strong drafting, research, negotiation, interpersonal and communications skills are a must. Litigation experience is a plus. Qualified candidates must possess a J.D. degree, along with admission to the Illinois Bar. Knowledge of municipal procurement law will be considered a plus. Must be able to manage junior attorneys as well as support staff and outside counsel. Strong communications, research and writing skills required.

Puerto Rican Heritage Day Courthouse Tour

The Circuit Court of Cook County is having a Puerto Rican Heritage Day Courthouse Tour. It will be on June 16 at 10 am. Everyone must meet by 9:45 a.m. at the Daley center by the Washington and Clark Street entrance.

Highlights of the tour are to:
* learn about the trial process and the legal system
* visit the jury assembly room and a courtroom for the viewing of an actual trial in progress
* attend an informational session hosted by a circuit court judge.

I would first encourage all members to spread the word to schools and community organizations so that people may attend and learn about the legal process.

Attorney Position

Title: Bureau Chief - Civil Rights

Division: Public Interest

Location: Chicago

The Office of the Illinois Attorney General is seeking to fill the Bureau Chief position in its Civil Rights Bureau. The Civil Rights Bureau investigates alleged civil rights violations, including allegations of pattern and practice discrimination under the Illinois Human Rights Act, and litigates to enforce civil rights laws.

The next Bureau Chief should have at least 10 years experience, be a skilled litigator, and have excellent communication skills.

The Civil Rights Bureau Chief oversees the investigations and cases handled by the Civil Rights Bureau, works closely with the Illinois Attorney General on civil rights issues, represents the Attorney General in the field, and supervises the Civil Rights Bureau's Assistant Attorneys General.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
